A Thirst Trap Vs Feminist’s Sexuality

Animal’s Tripti is titillating the audience so much that her following on Instagram has shot up from 664K to 2.5M! Deepika Padukone’s recent movie teaser is also the talk of the town for her sensuous pose with Hrithik Roshan. Does it mean that Indian audience has started accepting women’s sexuality?

Unfortunately, the answer is no, in bold letters.

I’m trying to see it from a different perspective here. Let me know whether you also resonate with it or not:

Everything in the media and in this society is done to cater to the needs of the average man (excluding the exceptions).

Believe me or not but it’s the truth — the bitter truth. Even when a feminist says that she’s expressing her sexuality by being "bold” and wearing revealing clothes, she’s unconsciously fulfilling the fantasies of the opposite gender.

I have a strong basis to substantiate my conclusion. Here it goes,

There's a pervert hidden behind that tight-lipped morality preacher.

There was a time when Pakeeza-like movies had scenes that quietly reflected the sensuality of a woman’s character through various signs. They were titillating enough to arouse romantic feelings for your loved one.

Slowly, cinema has transitioned to this bold phase where love has taken a backseat and lust is riding the narrative.

We couldn’t agree more that it is liberating. Yes, it is welcoming. It feels like society is opening up to women’s sexuality, accepting their sexual desires, fantasies.

But is it really accepting it? Does society really care about women’s independent sexuality and their opinions on it?

If you observe closely, the fearless directors and actors went to great lengths to make movies about women’s sexuality, their expressions, but how much success these movies have garnered?

Lipstick Under My Burqa was one such film (if I talk only about Bollywood), but it got banned for religious reasons. Then we recently had "Thank You For Coming." I have not seen that film, but it did poorly at the box office.

But when a movie like Animal comes where women are catering to the needs of men, then right there, her "boldness" is lauded, applauded, followed, and nurtured.

Can you spot the difference?

Yes, we are STILL catering to the needs of the average man.

Oh, btw did you see Deepika's ass in Fighter. Go, shag yourself boys!
